Take $10 Off Your First Order - See us on "Australian Seniors News" Website
In Australia, the national Medicare scheme does not directly fund the purchase of mobility aids, such as walkers, wheelchairs, and scooters, for the general population.

However, funding may be available through other Australian and state government programs, particularly for individuals who are elderly or have a disability.

Eligibility for funding through these programs is based on an individual's specific circumstances and needs.

Funding is provided for assistive technology and equipment that is deemed medically necessary by a healthcare professional.

There are multiple ways to receive funding, some differ from state to state (territory), which I covered in my last blog - https://mobilitytree.com.au/blogs/news/are-you-getting-all-your-entitlements

The above link has several links and websites you can utilise, but the first option would be to follow the suggested steps below.

How to access funding:
  1. Get a referral: Your doctor or a relevant health professional, such as a physiotherapist or occupational therapist, will need to determine your medical need and prescribe the appropriate equipment.
  2. Determine your eligibility: The health professional can help you understand which programs (NDIS, My Aged Care, state-based schemes) you are eligible for.
  3. Submit an application: Follow the application process for the relevant program. This may involve an assessment of your needs and home environment to ensure the aid is appropriate and can be used safely.
  4. Work with an approved supplier: If your application is approved, you must obtain the mobility aid from a provider that meets the program's standards.

You can request that your preferred vendor supply products. For example, if you like Mobility Tree simply ask your team to request a vendor form to us and we'll contact them directly.
